Surrey Police Probe Shots Fired Incident and Suspicious Vehicle Fire in Cloverdale

Police investigating gunshots outside Cloverdale business; burned vehicle may be connected

SURREY, BC — Surrey Police Service is investigating a shots-fired incident in Cloverdale after gunfire damaged at least one business on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 2:24 p.m. on May 21, 2026, to reports of gunshots near 58 Avenue and 176 Street in Surrey. When officers arrived, they discovered damage to at least one commercial property caused by gunfire. No injuries have been reported.

Shortly afterward, at around 2:47 p.m., police were called to a vehicle fire near 20 Avenue and 174 Street. Investigators are now working to determine whether the burned vehicle is connected to the shooting incident.

The investigation remains in its early stages, and police say the motive behind the shooting is currently unknown. However, authorities indicated that the incident is not believed to be related to ongoing extortion cases.

SPS Major Crime Section has taken over the investigation, while Integrated Forensic Identification Services officers continue collecting physical and digital evidence from the scene.

Traffic around 58 Avenue and 175 Street has been temporarily shut down as investigators process the area.
