Police testimony at immigration hearing alleges organized criminal network has over 1,000 associates across Canada
Abbotsford/Edmonton, May 29 (News Desk): During a hearing before Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board, police disclosed that a letter allegedly sent by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to the Abbotsford Police Department in British Columbia last year claimed the criminal organization has more than 1,000 “foot soldiers” or associates operating across the country.
Constable Kevin St. Louis of the Edmonton Police Service testified that the letter outlined the gang’s structure, influence, and network throughout Canada. According to police testimony, the gang portrayed itself as an organized criminal group with a significant number of members capable of carrying out extortion and other criminal activities.
The testimony was presented during an immigration hearing involving an individual accused of having connections to the gang. Authorities provided information regarding the gang’s alleged operations and potential influence within Canada.
However, the claims contained in the letter have not yet been independently verified by the court or the Immigration and Refugee Board. The case remains under review, and proceedings are ongoing.
