One Dead, Another Injured in Surrey Shooting; IHIT Takes Over Investigation

Police respond to targeted shooting in Newton area; no arrests made yet

Surrey, BC (Maheshinder Singh Mangat) — A deadly shooting in Surrey on Tuesday evening has claimed the life of one man, while another sustained injuries. The investigation has now been taken over by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

According to police, officers from Surrey Police Service responded to reports of shots fired at a vehicle in the 6800 block of 148 Street at approximately 6:55 PM on April 28, 2026.

Upon arrival, police located an adult male suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by BC Emergency Health Services and Surrey Fire Service, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second adult male was also found at the location and was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

IHIT has now assumed conduct of the investigation in collaboration with Surrey Police. No arrests have been made so far, and no suspect information has been released.
