In a significant leadership development, Surrey Police Service (SPS) has announced the appointment of Michael Procyk as the new Deputy Chief Constable of the Investigative Services Bureau. With a distinguished 27-year policing career, Deputy Chief Procyk brings a wealth of experience in tackling major crimes, gang violence, and organized crime.

As a long-time resident of Surrey, Deputy Chief Procyk expressed his pride in serving the community:

Deputy Chief Procyk’s extensive career highlights include:

• Leadership in major crime and homicide investigations.

• Serving with the RCMP for 24 years in various roles, including Commander of the Provincial Unsolved Homicide Unit.

• Contributing internationally by training Iraqi police during a mission in Jordan.

Since joining SPS in 2021 as Superintendent of the Investigative Services Bureau, Deputy Chief Procyk has been instrumental in:

• Building and operationalizing SPS’s investigative teams.

• Developing major case management policies and practices.

• Preparing SPS for integration into the BC Municipal Undercover Program and Lower Mainland Integrated Teams.

Recognition and Impact

Throughout his career, Deputy Chief Procyk has received numerous accolades, including being named a Member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces in 2021, one of Canada’s highest honors for police officers. His leadership and dedication have earned him respect across the Canadian policing community.

SPS Chief Constable Norm Lipinski praised Deputy Chief Procyk’s contributions, stating:
