Khalistan Declaration Day Marked in Vancouver, Commemorating 40 Years of Sarbat Khalsa 1986

Community gathers to reflect on history, sovereignty, and Sikh unity at a significant anniversary event

Vancouver, Canada — Members of the Sikh community are set to gather on April 29 at 6:00 PM to mark Khalistan Declaration Day, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the 1986 Sarbat Khalsa and the Khalistan Declaration.

The event, organized by Team Shaheed Nijjar, will take place outside the Consulate General of India in downtown Vancouver. Organizers describe the gathering as an opportunity to reflect on a pivotal moment in Sikh history, highlighting themes of sovereignty, unity, and sacrifice.

Participants are expected to engage in speeches, remembrance, and discussions centered on the historical and political significance of the 1986 declaration. The event also aims to bring together different generations of the Sikh diaspora to foster awareness and dialogue identity and heritage.

The anniversary holds deep meaning for many in the community, symbolizing a continued conversation around rights, recognition, and historical memory.
