Thinkers of Punjab Announce Protest on September 18 Against Arrests
Chandigarh: Prominent political commentator and former political advisor to Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, Malvinder Singh Mali, was taken into custody last night by the IT Cell of Mohali Police. This morning, after being presented in a Mohali court, the court has sent him to judicial custody at Patiala Central Jail until October 1st. In response, several intellectuals and thinkers of Punjab have announced a protest on September 18 against these arrests.

ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ: ਉਘੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਟਿਪਣੀਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਆਗੂ ਨਵਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਮਾਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਹਾਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਆਈ ਟੀ ਸੈਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਰਾਤ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਮੁਹਾਲੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਸ਼ੀ ਮਗਰੋਂ, ਮਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ 1 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਤੱਕ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਆਂਇਕ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ‘ਚ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੋਧ ‘ਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਚਿੰਤਕਾਂ ਨੇ 18 ਸਤੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਨੇ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
